The
V-2 Calibration Stand being readied to perform calibration on the V-2 Fuel
system. You can see the section of the V-2 with the fuel tanks mounted in
the tower. The engine is approximately at the first level of the tower
with the person standing on it. You can see the two large pipes which will
carry the water pumped through the system into a large holding tank coming from
the bottom of the engine and going to the right. In the foreground is
another V-2 engine being inspected.
Note
the small blockhouse in the background beyond the stairs. This
blockhouse is all that currently remains of the V-2 Calibration stand,
except visible places on the concrete pad where the tower and other
equipment was mounted. This stand was located just inside what is now
called the Tech Area, just south of the Fire Station. The little
Blockhouse is located on the right shortly after entering the gate.
Also
note the scales at the very left of the photo, which was used to weigh the
fuel for the Turbine Pump.
